Chapman Beach Elopement, Cannon Beach Oregon | Eden + Matthew |
A Chapman Beach elopement at Cannon Beach Oregon with some cliffside views after at Elk Flats.
Eden & Mathew had such a special Oregon coast elopement in the middle of August surrounded by family. They chose the Oregon coast because it was a spot they both had never been and wanted to experience the area for the first time together. They ended up narrowing down to two locations: Chapman Beach for the ceremony, then end the night at Elk Flats for some wedding portraits.
Chapman Beach is honestly one of my favorite beach locations. It is at the north end part of Cannon Beach so you can see Haystack rock in the distance but it doesn’t have the crowds. It always has spots where you can easily have a private ceremony with no one around. The tall golden grass also brings such a beautiful aspect to the photos. Chapman Beach is the one spot we always bring our friends and family who visit us. It is the perfect sunset spot, grab some fish and chips before heading to the beach and if you are lucky, you may see a herd of Elk walk by!
Here are a few words from Eden & Matthew…
What did you love about your elopement location(s)? Both locations were very intimate. Neither of us had ever been to Oregon before our elopement trip so we were a little worried that the locations were not going to look like the pictures we had seen online, but it was breathtaking. It was everything we could have dreamed of and more.
What memory from your elopement do you remember the most strongly? Or what part of the day had the most impact on you or your relationship? The entire day still does not feel real. I think we both agree that the memory we remember the most strongly was hiking down to Elk Flats without our family after the ceremony. It was a time for the two of us to soak up everything. It was a little chilly and the scenery was unreal—it was pure bliss. I remember thinking that the whole thing felt like a fairytale.
Funniest moment on your elopement day? We can’t think of a specific moment, but we are both very unserious people so not having to deal with the stress of a typical wedding allowed us to be ourselves; we got to joke, laugh, and cut up as we always do.
What advice would you give to future couples who are getting married? Do your wedding how you want to. Don’t base your wedding on others expectations or judgements. A lot of people thought we were crazy for eloping and were offended that they would not be at our wedding, but we would do it the way we did 1000 times again. It was a day that we will remember and cherish forever, and it was a beautiful start to our new life together.
